Song of the Day: The Decemberists, “Don’t Carry It All”

Seems fitting for the time of year (finals loom large and end of term projects are nigh) and for this year in particular (where I’ve realized again that aiming for messy is a better goal than trying to be perfect). I constantly have to remind myself that I can’t do everything, and that I have to let somethings go.

It’s also only two weeks before Advent, which begins November 27, so the song with it’s imagery of communal burden and joy is also apt. It’s a reminder, to me at least, that only God is perfect; we’re not meant to be anything of the sort. We’re meant to be in the moment and simply be with each other.
