Electro pop for the writing and grading season–aka, the rest of the semester apparently.
I’m going to admit, I normally find the filmed and choreographed marriage proposal a little cheesy. Mostly, it’s because I’d want that moment to be just for me and the guy. But, this one is just fantastic, and it shows just how much things stay the same even as things change. Marriage equality does nothing to take away from our conceptions of love and marriage. It just allows more people to participate, and celebrating more love in the world is never, ever a bad thing in my book. (I also totally approve the song choice.)
I would totally go see Billy Joel in concert. Just added to my to do list.
The Dallas Zoo has baby cheetahs, named Kamau and Winspear! According to the Dallas Observer, cheetahs are apparently really difficult to breed in captivity due to their social structures. So this kind of fuzzy cuteness is rare in a zoo. You’re welcome.
Excellent long piece at the American Prospect on the sudden drop in life expectancy for poor, white women. It’s worth the read.
