The tradition of the gift list/thankful list/resolution list in journalism is probably an old one. I say probably because I haven’t come across it in Victorian journalism yet, but then again, I haven’t been looking. I was first introduced to the concept at TAG with the student newspaper’s annual Christmas gift list, wherein the paper gave a verbal gift to all 150 some odd students. The one year I remember, I was going to be editor of the UTNE Reader some day. I think also there was a drag race with Dan on Hampton? At any rate, the Dallas Observer has a resolution list for the city, and some kind of bike lane issue. Why those things are occurring concomitantly is anyone’s guess.
